The only real objection I have to your story is that you used Aphrodite as a reference. Aphrodite was the GREEK not Roman Goddess of love and beauty. The proper one to use would have been Venus.

If this is really Ancient Rome, the cousin's name would have been Alerius, not Alerio.

In Ancient Rome they would never refer to the Goddess of Love as Aphrodite. Her name is Venus. Aphrodite is her Greek name.
