Or at least spell/grammar check. Any mood here was really damaged by grammar and other errors. Also, if you're telling a story in first person, you can't break out and give the non-narrator's thoughts as you do with Jason in the beginning. There is rarely a man who won't fit, Jason's words notwithstanding. And "hurt like hell?" Not if the guy's done his job right; not saying some women don't have more pain than others, but that's a bit much.
