Ah Yes, the Cow
Hmm, I did laugh out loud reading this, although I'm still wondering about that cow... He seemed awfully attached... ;) Good luck in the contest!

I was so pleased to read the misconceptions of this particular Celtic myth, brought to light, and hopefully to rest; and in such a humorous way! This little tale was a pleasant change of pace. Shades of The Táin, all about stealing those cows. ;)

Wow. The first paragraph is amazing. The vivid description of the shadows, smoke and light evoked a palpable sense of menace. The darkness felt like a living malevolent entity.
It's a wonderful example of descriptive writing and a cute short story. I give it a five out of five for sure.
