Mysterious just for the sake of it?

What "Kind" are your main characters and how do they differ from humans, besides not wearing shoes? Why does she have a "Master"? And what is he - human?
I think your story would be much more appealing if at least some of these questions were answered, since your readers don't necessarily have your imagination of the characters.
