What did he expect, she made it clear she was a slut when he met her; so why the big surprise? I have no sympathy for him; you get what you pay for. I refused sex before marriage and yeah, I never got a second date if it turned out she was a slut; but still never lacked for dates; and you would be amazed at how many looked me up later when they realized how empty a hedonistic life is. Well it took a while; but I found my true love and 35 years later, we're still happily married!
Either take her back or forget her. Either way, man up and move on.

"On the one hand, I was losing my daughter. I don't think any Dad takes that very well, but hey, they have to leave the nest one day."
Heh, my daughter was 26 and when I walked her down the isle and gave her hand to my soon to be son in law, I leaned forward and whispered, "No returns!"
I often wondered what my own FIL thought, may he rest in peace. I was only 19 by a few days and his daughter was only 18 when he gave me her hand. That was 37 years, 2 kids and 5 grandkids ago....
I hate to say it in a way, but with the lead in this thing being such a drunk and out of control, despicable mental case, I'm leaning towards liking the wife much more than the asswipe. Just maybe he will get drunk, drive into a tree and end this pathetic dissertation. He doesn't deserve either of his kids nor his ex. The ex is stupid for trying to hang on. I'm almost certain there will be reconciliation. However, I'm hoping Eileen gives him the gate.

re: Exurus
They hurt each other, her with her actions and him with his moments of pain. However considering how long they had been together, and based on how he reacted when they tried to swing one time she knew how badly he would take it.
She feared growing older and risked it. She put him into a spiral of pain that he has not been able to figure his way out of.
Your assertion that she should dump him, I would say is erroneous. If anything they need to have an actual conversation but only their kids would have been able to bridge that pain.
I also think that by not having a talk earlier, it allowed anger and other issues to fester.
He looks at his wife, still with love in his heart, and is angry because of it.
Would you like some cheese with your whine?

Loving it
you are doing a good job of portraying his emotional struggle. Very authentic.
She is madly in love with you . . .
She has a funny way of showing it.
What a whiny chump!
