I love this site and the stories here, but this is, by far the most emotionally amazing story I have read here. This story is amazing. You showed that there can be a story with true depth of meaning. Thank you. Very well written.

I'm reading this at Christmas Time.

Happened upon this at Christmas 2016. What a surprise! So many facets of selfless giving. While most stories simply go for lust, this one engages passion. You didn't pull any punches and you didn't let us down with cheap sex. A wonderful story that lets the reader root for the characters and reflect on our own lives.

Very few stories touch me on a deep emotional level, but this one surely succeeded in spades. As another poster suggested, I must have onions nearby, because my eyes are watery. Truly heart wrenching as he describes his daughters... cuts to the bone to think about it, being a parent myself. Love this story! Easy 5*

so sad but so real

Not only a great story teller, but what an imagination. The characters were for the most part living and real. Every sentence, each emotion, the situation, the perceptions, made me think the author actually endured this. I trust this is not the case, and that his understanding of God has broadened...considerably. What God promises to all? Romans 10:18 "The sufferings of this present world are not to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us". In the end, as even this worldly story attests, it will all be clear, and worth it. Great job!

This story can stand on its own without the graphic sex, not that the sex wasn't good. But you should consider softening up the sex scene and submit it for publication of a short story. It was a wonderful story. I'll need to read your others

Christmas

I go through this every year since my wife passed away.. still get together with her family & my son , but there still a sadness with her missing. been almost 6 yrs now but seems as though it was this year. read this 1 every year at Christmas & find a couple of people that come together at a wonderful time & put meaning back into it.

This story really touched me....oftentimes I think about how cruel life can be...if I lost my kids I don't know what I'd do...reading this story let me know I'd probably be a lil bitter like the main character. Sometimes in buying the gifts, we forget the most important thing is being able to spend time with our kids, friends, families and loved ones. I'm glad he was able to find love again. Maybe there is still hope and I will too. Thanks for sharing. Loved it! My most favorite story !!!

First of all, I agree with those who found her refusal to accept much needed help puzzling, even if she did it graciously, which she didn't.

I also found it a little puzzling when he came over with the gifts that she was wearing so little under the robe. Unless she was planning, or least thinking about, seducing him, wouldn’t she have more on under the robe, if not wearing clothes?

But still wonderful!

Good mix of emotions. Provided they include all of the 'sleepover', I could see this as a movie, I would want to see. And yes I did weep, but as I identify as as a Celt and male this is accepted, as warriors were allowed to express emotions before the arrival of mono deity religions!
