great story, unfortunately, reality has it's own truth in the matter. he may not get ripped in the divorce, hopefully break even. why is it that the asshole who tempts the wife, or drugs her, or sets her up, gets a free pass. in this case I'd have to include her sister.

He found out his wife was a cheating slut. It would be one thing to make his life hell because she was angry but to take it as far as she did was totally unacceptable. It was apparent that she used her anger as an excuse to screw around and then had the audacity to think he would just sit and take it.
For the BTB fans, me included, it would have been nice to read about how she tried to correct her "mistake" and how she was made to suffer. The way JPB wrote it we can let our imaginations run wild. For those Reconcile At All Cost fans, they can imagine how the couple came to together and rode off into the sunset as a happy couple. Not likely but that's just me. Don't believe in RAAC.
I would say that they story is finished in spite of some of the comments.
I'm sure that JPB would be glad to refund any monies spent buying his story.

If he stays and does not file for divorce, they all suffer and the kids might do slightly better. They also may not do better being trapped in a miserable family. In any case, the wife fucked everything up. If the world was fair she's simply leave with the shirt on her back. If the courts were fair, the judge would tell her to leave and when the oldest kid was finished with college, she'd get half the house. But the world is not fair, courts like to give kids to cheating sluts, even though it is clear that they really do not give a shit about their kids.

Her excuse was an all time low. She was pissed? What is she? A five year old with no control over her emotions or her actions? Dave was right. She stayed gone WAY too long if she had any hope of saving her marriage. But that wasn't really on her mind was it? She was pissed so she slept with another man and continued to fuck him in the morning instead of giving any consideration to what problems her actions might have started. Dumb bitch deserves to be divorced. She earned it.

I like JPB's short to the point style ! There was no violence or even shouting , just a man who could read the tea leaves and have enough sense to get out while the getting was good !
Life is way too short for putting up with shit that you have a modicum of control over . To me that is when a man becomes a man and is no longer a immature kid in a man's world.
What has he got to lose in this scenario ? His wife just did the worst thing that a loving partner in a marriage (man or woman) and then acted as though she was so nonplussed about it that she was going to do it again . Who the hell would want to live with a shrew like that ? He sounds like he has a good job , and he might take a monetary hit for a year or two, but he will overcome this in time, whereas she, unless she marries money , will see her lifestyle spiral downward after a few years.
And as far as female companionship , I doubt he will be without very long. As a very wise uncle once told me when I had my first puppy love heartbreak ;we had went to the hospital together to see my Grandmother after she had surgery and I had been moping around the whole time , he took me down to the room where you view newborns through a window , and he said look there, half of those are girls ! So when one breaks your heart , mourn for one day then go find a replacement because as you can plainly see, they make them every Damn day ! Best advice I've ever gotten in my whole life !
