Outstanding Heart Rendering Tale
You outdid yourself this time. I could feel the poor mans anguish and his, no, their love for one another. You made this old man choke up. If only all couples could have this deep a love in real life. Well done to you from the SW MO Hermit

Helen
It brought a tear to my eye because my late wife was named Helen.
The unconditional love, humor, and kindness in this story made me weep. It is one of the best stories I've ever read. It's easy to understand why SuperHeroRalph is so admired. If one doesn't have a beautiful soul and spirit, this type of storytelling could never be written. Thank you for sharing your craft with your readers. We receive one gift after another from you. Is there a love of my life? "I surely hope so", said Sparkie.

Oh, you asshole
I thought this was going to be a romantic, upbeat story, but instead, oh, my God, you made me cry.
This was the most beautiful and touching story I've ever read here. I'm sorry I called you an asshole, but I couldn't stop crying.
Thank you for this story. Do I dare read any of your other stories?
The sign of a great writer, this story made me feel. I gave you 5 stars. Good luck in the contest.
And it was a three-hanky special. God gave me my Helen (not her name, but that's her, all right ) thirty eight years ago. I hope and pray I die first.

Through The Tears
What a story, to read it is to understand the trauma and fears of aging, the not wanting to be the survivor but not wanting to leave a loving partner alone either. A tremendous effort that left an old man in tears
I've read this story twice, now. I've cried at the ending both times. Maybe it's my age and my own thoughts of aging, but it's a very touching story of two people who still love each other after so many years of marriage.
So sad, yet so tender.
My grandparents had a relationship like this, they were so sweet, tender and loving to each other, and us, my brother and I. It was so sweet seeing them, at almost 80 years old, walking hand in hand to the store.
I last saw my granddad in the hospital after the stroke that killed him. Still alive, barely, like the old man in your story, he didn't remember his granddaughter, had no clue who I was. It was heartbreaking. And grandma died of a broken heart, basically, two years later.
I never considered them sexual beings - I was only sixteen when he died - but I saw their love. And my grandma's favorite was - yellow roses.
Thank you. Bless you. This deserves to win, hands down.

Terrific set up and so well plotted. I loved all the well meaning generations, selfishly trying to deal with the elephant in the room. Wonderfully written. Thank you.

Susan? Hell I thought you were FREDDIE!
Nonetheless it was poignant, your story. Frightening and breath-sucking. Alzheimer's. OMG. One of the most frightening words in the human language(s), for it is indeed ubiquitous.
To lose one's love by death is horrible, but to lose one's love in a stuporous cloud of erasure is beyond Hell. God help us all.
I thought it was a very poignant story. You captured the confusion of dementia very well, but despite Edward's dementia, the way you described his love for his wife, the love that still continued to shine through the cloud of failing memories, was lovely. Rach :)
Oh crap you made my eyes water big time. As an older man, what you wrote hit home with a vengeance and it's not something I like to think about. Youth is precious, enjoy it while you can.
It just might be a coincedence because I'm sick at the moment but I finished this and cried. Sure I laughed a little bit when it turned out he was humping the mattress, because hey, it's funny, but I took care of my Grandmother who went thru this struggle before finally passing on and this just hit home. I loved it and would be glad to see more like this in both the Romance & the Loving Wives category.
to read a story which is something else.
I recall the sadness when my old Father answered the door and said to my Mother, "who's this?" (after I had driven a long way to see them).

Wonderful story
This touched me. As I get older I think about the possibility of Alzheimer's, and this story captured many of my thoughts and feelings.

A little more real life than I needed... I went through pretty much of that with my parents.
Very Touching
