There's some good advice here, but I do take exception to the part that the words "penis" and "vagina" should NEVER be used. It depends on the characters and the context. It depends on the tone that the author is trying to achieve. It depends on the story.
I agree that an author of erotica ought to be able to use crude terminology whenever it's called for, but no one should be telling an author that a particular word is off limits.
Ever read The Story of O? It uses rather prim language all throughout with the single exception of a character uttering the word "whore" once.
Why can this sort of thing work? Because overuse of ANY word can rob it of its power.
But the bottom line is that the process of writing is selecting which words to put down on paper (or virtual computer pages). When you tell a writer what words he cannot use or what words he must use, you are attempting to stop him from writing his own work and trying to make him write yours.
