Is It me?...

... or is there a big chunk of story missing? A little ways into page 2 he goes from contemplating his occasional lack of trust in Sarah to thinking about beating up Joe and kicking Sarah out of his place. Everything else was very good, just that great big hole in the middle

How many of us make commitments and/or agreements when we are young that reflect poorly on our lives as we grow older. Either from parental guidance or just plain conducting our actions with honor, we have made some understanding with ourselves and others that profoundly affect our futures.

Very enjoyable

A very readable story. The people felt authentic. There was a lot of sadness in the story, especially for Ray who seems a bit of a Sad Sack. I have to chuckle at stories where there is revenge by situation. Ray wanted to shot Sarah and Joe so someone did it for him, the very night they got caught cheating. That was very convenient. But it fit with Sarah's troubled background so it worked OK although the timing was miraculous. Nice work.

pretty good, but...

a bit anticlimactic. also, not a fan of breaking up the most interesting part of the story with a long history & character development. whatever excitement there was in the beginning seemed to be lost. id've spread the background around a bit more. still, well written and managed to keep my interest to the end. 4

Some good some bad

The good : cheating Joe and cheating sarah got caught, Joe got beat, and later both got killed. So there was justice. Which was nice to read.

The bad: the story just ended there. Trina never really takes to out hero about the cheating etc or how she felt. He never really spent much time in the story with Trina. So the ending was very weak and abrupt.

Also what was with all the ex wife appearances? She's not core to advancing the story but she keeps showing up in it.

I like how you tied it up and did not leave us wondering who the killers were - the earlier info about Sarah did set it up to work - nice.

Trina liked him better, but decided to marry the first guy that asked? How does that work? Desperation? If she was passing a pet store, and a parrot squawked "Polly wants a marriage", would her kids have feathers now?
And trust me, if a guy is as nice and gentlemanly as this guy is portrayed, then he wouldn't associate with, let alone be best friends with, a guy like Joe. Not unless he is a douchebag himself. People of morals don't tend to be best friends with people that completely go against their sense of right and wrong.

My question still remains. She decided to DATE(Not marry!) the guy she liked less, because he asked first? Is that how it works? Like or love doesn't matter, it all comes down to a race to see who gets there first? You ladies should tell guys these things up front, so we can get in there first, even if you like someone else.
