Your writing style is rather sparse, with not much detail to color the facts of the story line. Still, I like your stories and this one touched me. I think you succeeded in what you set out to do in writing the story.
Another GREAT! story from one of the best writers on this site. Loved it, keep on writing.
after reading one of your stories. The good guys in your story(stories) are the most open of people and have very big hearts. Real love is present throughout. Bad shit happens in life and happens in your stories, yet people find a way without self-damaging revenge. Thank you for taking the time to "show the way."
Amy marrying Robert opened the door for a nice surprise ending. You could have fleshed the story out with details but would that have made it a better story? I think not.
Great short story, although I have to admit you had me worried when you said that Amy was seventeen ... WHEW! Keep up the great writing.
Thank you.

Of course an 84 year old WWII vet might be expected to say that, but I am one of your most constant readers.

I lost my grandfather in WWII, my father was disabled in Korea and I was wounded in Vietnam. My daughter and son-n-law are full time Army National Guard and my son was lost during training in the Navy. My family has given much in defense of OUR country and are willing to give still more. Thanks for honoring those who served and continue to serve.
S44a,
The subject, topic and narrative at the beginning held me too. Especially the subject. God, Family, Country and Honor above all.
Thanks for sharing on Lit.
To those who served/are; Thank You for your service to your country, you know who you are....

As an exmilitary and the son of a career military man, thank you. I could say more, I believe THANK YOU does it.
I spent a long time in uniform and lost some close friends along the way. This story touched me. Thanks from the Old Sarge.
Another vet here. I like your story, and the way you told it.
Everyone needs to remember those who served, and to thank those who are doing so now. Thank you.

You know I love you and your writing - I will read anything you post and have shed tears during more than one reading -
This needs to be some where that people who won't come here can read it!! It is much more than a Literotica story -
We need to remember to honor these folks all the time not just once a year - I used to do the flag planting, measuring next to my combat boots for distance, push them straight down and in, stand at present arms while the 3 buglers played taps as a "round" (an eerie sound for sure). It just is not enough.

Thank you sir,
I started to read this because I was bored, the further I got into it the more moved I was, Tears got the better of me in a few places and it bought back memories of times past, and the Shit that people in high places start and we are left to clean up their mess, many with our lives. This story also shows us that we don't even have to go to war to create senseless havoc on ourselves, the ones who are supposed to protect us are the ones that destroy loved ones in an instant. God bless all those who are thrown into harms way, when they reach heavens gate they will be greeted with open arms because they have already been to hell and back
A nice, touching story. Just to be picky, early on you refer to an Army base. Unless things have changed recently it should be referred to as an Army post.
So goes the ending of the words for Taps.
Thank you for reminding all of us of the huge gift, yet heavy price, of freedom.
Very moving and very sad but also uplifting and inspiring. And sweet.
It's all been said already. What an inspirational and moving story. Thank you for sharing. Easily worth 5 stars.
I have enjoyed this site for years. This is my first comment ever. Thanks! PanheadPete.

I have been reading stories by Scorpio44 for years, but had never read this one before. I don't usually have that intense a reaction to fiction, but it was very hard to focus my eyes enough to get to the end. My thanks to Scorpio44 (Scorpio44a) for evoking strong emotion. I can't say I enjoyed the reading of this story, but I would not have missed it for anything.
This story took me four tries to finish. I took so many kids to Viet Nam and brought so few home healthy and whole. So many more I brought home in caskets or on med evacs. Thank you for remembering them all.

I've been inside an ambulance a few times. One stretcher, two paramedics and one parent is a very tight fit. I refuse to believe that a rapist and two of his victims would be transported in the same ambulance, whether there was enough space or not.
Never have I committed on a story before But this one was fantastic and it made me cry . Thank you
What an awesome story. This is my 2nd reading of the story but the first time I am able to leave a comment as it hurts so much.
