A Different Anonymous

Overall a competently written outing. Just one comment to our British friends: you should translate it to American. In the US, 'mum' more often than not means be quiet, or an old bitty. A young sexy mom is called a 'mom' or other terms.

One page story = lack of imagination

I've been reading stories on literotica long enough to know that any author whose first story is only one page long almost always sucks at writing. I used to give him/her the benefit of the doubt by reading the whole story but I always come to the same conclusion: it sucks. This story is no exception.

English Language

Story was ok. It could do with being fleshed out more.

To our American "friend", please don't tell the English how to use our own language. The short form of "mother" is "mum" always has been, and always will be probably. If you are unable to cope with that, perhaps night school will help.

Remember that the English language existed long before America was colonised by Europeans.

How arrogant of an American

to think he has the right to tell someone how to spell in an English story. A host of Americanisms (gas, pants, etc. etc.)mean something different to the rest of us but we are too polite to moan about it all the time. Perhaps, when US society matures enough to feel a moral obligation to pay sufficient tax to look after its own elderly citizens properly, Americans will eventually grow to show more acceptance of other cultures.

So lets see

He goes to work to makes money for the family.
Puts up with all the shit and harassment there.
Comes home to run around slut and, she stabs him in the back.
Sounds fair.

"Arrogant Amricans"????

I don't too often get involved in comment-disputes on these story-forums, but this is one place in which I felt just a bit obligated to post my own opinion.

First, I will wholeheartedly agree that it was quite rude of the American reader to suggest that UK-based authors take time to "Americanize" terms in their stories. Quite frankly, the notion is ridiculous on the face of it, and further, I've always enjoyed seeing the various "Briticisms" that appear in such tales, as they enrich the story by adding a form of "local color" that helps most of us readers to "picture" things in the story in more detail.

That said, I simply MUST take issue with the way our two "cousins from across the Pond" chose, to respond to that crass suggestion.

How quickly some of you Britons seem to forget that, were it not for "arrogant Americans", the population of the UK would all be speaking German. It was OUR military might, and our "Yankee ingenuity" as applied to developing weaponry, that changed the course of World War II. It was legions of those "arrogant American" soldiers who died, defending YOUR freedom, as well as attempting to keep our own homeland free from the threat of invasion.

Now, as to the same fellow, who seems to think he has a leg up on Americans where "morality" is concerned, there are a couple other salient points he or she needs to consider. And, so that there is no "error in translation", I'm going to define a couple terms for you.

But, first, here's a really nasty thought to consider: Again, if it had not been for the American military, you Britons would HAVE no senior citizens to worry about. Based on the way the Third Reich did business, anyone too old or too infirm to continue to work and contribute to the growth of the Reich would have been "euthanized", so as not to be a DRAIN on society's pockets!

Now, on to the terms:

Social Security - payments out of tax revenues, made to the senior citizens of America, and to a vast number of younger Americans who are disabled and thus cannot work and earn a proper living.

Medicare - government payments covering roughly 80% of the cost of all medical care for those same senior citizens and disabled individuals.

Currently, Social Security and Medicare account for nearly two-thirds of all the expenditures made annually by the United States government. Payments made out of the remaining third of our annual tax revenues include the support of the American military, domestic and international disaster relief, hundreds of billions of dollars worth of foreign-aid gifts to hundreds of third-world nations, and the "payroll" and other expenses associated with simply running a government that employe more people than the total populations of the UK's eight largest cities, combined.

And you accuse us of being less-than-moral because we do not grant our elderly a 100% government-paid retirement? Far more Americans, currently, in our 60's, are also looking after our parents - either in their own homes (which they own, not rent) or in our own homes courtesy of building on additions. It's my understanding that some 70% of all Britons never have, nor ever will, actually OWN their own home, and that it's been that way for several generations. Must be great, to be rich enough to be a British landlord and have a whole host of flats to let out to tenants at exorbitant prices!

If you Britons are content to subsidize your government with well over half your paychecks each week, go for it. If you enjoy waiting for weeks just to get to see a doctor, well, we here in America will be there in the queue with you, come 2014, when our own "nationalized health care" kicks in.

But please don't have the gall to call us "arrogant". You need to remember that, whenever you point a finger at another person, the remaining three fingers are pointing right back at YOU!

btw Americans, whats so wrong about speaking German? i personally dont care what the language is i speak. nor do i care what americans did (in their honest opinion)for britain 60 years ago. If your contribution did have such an impact on the course of the war, does that mean we can blame the length of the European aspect of the war upon America's original stance of "Its a European War, not our prob"? (You didnt join in till '42, and only your western fleets were occupied by the japanese)
