Pathetic

I'm used to running into political screeds on the internet, but usually they are at least based in some level of reality. This one was the paranoid rantings of a idiot who doesn't know history and can't be bothered into actually researching the people he's trying to attack.

It would have been hilarious if the author hadn't been so emphatic about it being political. It's clear that he actually believes that the fall of Obama will bring acid rain to Chicago along with morality police. Lack of gun laws will turn every town into the worst Wild West cliches, and free speech will be banned.

Really Captain Herbal Life?

I'm tempted to ask you where you get your information, but its not really worth it. I can tell you that you really don't understand the relationship between the fiscal conservatives who make up the bulk of the Tea Party and the Religious nut jobs that make up the social conservative wing of the Rethugican party. I will tell you that the two dislike each other intently. They will work together, but only because they don't see a decent alternative that has any chance of winning elections. Honestly, the Tea Party would be more against the creation of a "morality" police than your average nutroot liberal who beleives that racism and sexism needs to be stomped out wherever it might raise its ugly head.

But, its your paranoid fantasy, not mine. Hope it helps you sleep at night to have posted it here.

Rather tired of over-reaction and demonization from both sides.

I'll keep it simple and say that demonizing the other side doesn't convince anyone of your rectitude, usually the opposite.

I know history

And I say that all who try to govern from a religious belief system will ultimately do injustice to most. Even those who have belief systems that they attend to without regard to outcomes will govern in such a way that they do not consider outcomes with any pragmatism. I hate what the democrats do with agencies like the FDA who try to outlaw supplements so that drug companies make more money while killing people. The fact that drugs prescribed correctly and taken as prescribed are the 4th leading cause of death in America has not effect on the FDA. The CDC stated early this year that zero deaths occurred this year and the last five with taking go of supplements. As someone who has worked for the Republicans I now detest how they attempt to and succeed in engendering fear in the population so as to gain more and more power for the few. While the middle class is disappearing the disparity between the haves and have nots has increased until it now matches that of the Gilded Age of the late 1800s. Too many blind followers and not enough thinkers. At least this writer attempts to put out an alternative possibility than of the blind who are now in power. Hell as someone I met in a collision shop said last week. Let's cut out the middle man and vote for the lobbyist. That way we would know the corporation we are submitting to.

Agenda driven crap.

Good fiction is character-driven not agenda-driven. If you're going to write Dystopic fiction, then make sure you have a strong central character, rather than just a handy vehicle to tick off your hot buttons.

the usual suspects have their disdain...

but it's only a matter of time.

The EPA is history, folks. Tea-baggers forget that the EPA was created under Richard Nixon. They bemoan the socialist Obama when he is actually to the political right of ol' Tricky Dick. GW effectively emasculated the EPA already. And Obama only last week dropped EPA ozone pollution regulations.

As for the realism of this story: Does anyone remember pre-EPA Los Angeles? The air quality was so bad (read "SMOG") that people were forced to remain indoors over much of the summers in the 70's. This was early in the global warming era. Higher temperatures will only make things worse in the future.

With environmental protections removed, does anyone believe that industry will be self-regulating? Yes, right wingers, you all thoroughly believe in the inherent goodness in all Corporate Executives. Especially in light of their multi-million dollar earnings, how could they be anything but caring about all us 'little people' that made them fat and happy?

This story is a very realistic (though not very well edited) view of one possible future if we allow the Teabaggers free reign.

Unfortunately, there are no progressive voices left in America except outsiders like Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman, and Senators Franken and Sanders.

Progressives no longer have a voice in America. This story is one possible outcome of our current situation. And a likely one, I figure.

I can see the likes of Lazyloner

and his kind are in denial. Send this article to the Tea Party in Congress and watch them rant and rave how untrue it is. If it only were.

Well one thing both parties have in common

they both read Literotica and even here they still are political. lol

Though this is certainly not spot-on..

...it is incontestable that whatever havoc man brings to his future it will be wrought mostly by conservative elements in society as those stand most diametrically opposed to change which of course needs to happen with increasing not decreasing alacrity in the future, technology driven as it is. This is poly-sci 101. I would like to see conservatives die out (which they are as they "age" out). Conservatives are afraid of dialectical argument and they destroy my home planet through inaction on the environment.Though conservatism may have historically had empirical and philosophical utility it has failed as a practical socio-economic approach. By the way dummies, the roots of our current economic crises go to the domestic macro-policies of the Reagan years as much as to the lack of oversight during the clinton/bush league era.

THE REFERENCE TO

third world healthcare is what OBAMACARE will bring. We need a comprehensive health care but NOTHING RUN BY A CENTRAL GOVERNMENT THAT HAS FAILED IN ALL BUT MAYBE THE MILITARY... The post office is toast because it has to wait for the liberal congress to allow it to lay people off and close on Saturday.. NOW THAT IS CRAP. By the way I lived in LA in the 60's and the big problem is the same as any large city... 20 LBS OF PEOPLE IN A 5 LB BAG. Thats what centralized manufacturing and government has created. Rural areas die so we can spend our money on BIG BOX products imported from offshore. WELL ENOUGH BS. BOTH THE "LIBERALS" AND THE "CONSERVATIVES" ARE TO BLAME FOR THE MESS. Someone once said the only good politician is a dead one and I for one am beginning to believe it.

Where Real Serious Crime Originates

Selfishness is the instrument and our elected political forces are the worst offenders at every level of government meaning local, state and federal.

When the primary obective is to be elected or re-elected at any cost then our prior system of checks and balances by rational well meaning people will fail as it is now.

For example do you understand why the U.S. banking system laws were changed to allow the housing crises to erupt when the bubble burst? Do you understand why no one policed them anyway?

It wouldn't have been profitable for those who created the opportunities to make the absurd profits in derivatives and tranches constructed to decieve their value. After all the risk would be covered by the nations people not the risk taker institutional managements. Thus the government bailouts.

What happened couldn't have without complicity at the highest levels of government. Of course for those people to get re-elected they needed the big money from lobby's or company's who have self interests not in the nations peoples best interests.

If you argue against that then please explain the drug companies stranglehold on who can sell what and at what price. The inexplicable difference in drug costs in Canada vs the U.S. and the governments decision not to allow Canadian drug purchase by U.S. citizens is indenfesible.

The Lipitor generic has been delayed for several years when Pfizor payed $5 Billion to the Indian Generic Company to hold off on their lawsuit for a few years so their $10 Billion a year profits would continue.

The point is this taking advantage of the American People has just began and will continue unabated until the American Public reacts in an effort to change the way our congress people become elected or re-elected.

Unless we hold our elected representatives at every level of government accountable for acting in our best interests there will be continued disintegration of our rights until revolt is the only method of action left to alter the negative future of our nation and our children.

Spot on LIFEISREALITY

too many of us want someone else to do or pay for us. We are are brothers keeper and conservation is necessary but the world too evolves and changes without our permission. We need less spending on politics and parties and more on necessities. Thanks for an insightful comment.

By the way.....This nation was founded by people who strove for RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.. not no religion so in reality the agnostics and atheists are in the small minority of our population but seem to have the loudest, most hateful and envious commentary.

Lets look at it a bit differently

I nodded politely and said nothing more as I folded up my government approved poncho made by our comrades in China and stuffed it into its mandatory enviromentally approved bag, then, climbing the stairs, as elevators were deemed unhealthy and thus illegal, and made my way up ten flights of stairs to the accounting department where I attempted at supervising under the strict governmental guidelines designed to ensure nobody had their feelings hurt. Unfortunately, due to the dumbing down factor of hiring quotas, I supervised people who fit precise coio-economic profiles instead of hirin people able to do the job. Oh well, since my corporation no longer could afford both retirement and the 2035 version of Obamacare, This was my second job and the lower paying of the two. Thank God for the first job so I could at least pay my "fair" share of the Federal Deficit.

I think that may a little closer to the truth. Hope and chang? Hope for change America. Vote them all out I say, for a career politician is and invitation to a government based on hereditary rule and not on service to her people.

This sounds like what is happening in that wonderful socialist paradise the PRC

Gross misrepresentation of Tea party - Tea party wants less gov't interference not more, and they don't care who you have sex with. I have a good friend who has worked in The People's Republic the last ten years and this story is very similar to life there now.

Well...

When I was Younger my uncle said to me...Damn politicians, you can't trust a one of them. He did not choose sides. I have determined that he was right. I have noticed that the current assholes in charge believe in censorship. Has anyone noticed that they do not like anyone else to have a point of view? Many of them cry for Fox and anyone who doesn't share their opinion to be closed down. You do not see that from the other side. I have never heard anyone say that the progressive station should be stopped. We know the ulterior motive. They want us to be sheep without thought or question. It is our job to question everything that comes out of their lying mouths. Here's the kicker, if they could close it down...they would. Thats not America. We would not think something like that. So...if they are not Americans, who are they?

You have it backwards!

I only read 25% before my stomach started turning and I had to skim. The reality is that this is where the liberals are taking this country. The liberals are the ones using the US Dept of Justice to enforce their political view and totally intolerant of any opposing opinions. The level of intolerance, vitriol, cronyism, corruption and governmental intrusion under the current administration far exceeds anything President Nixon even considered.

As a student of history who has studied WWI, WWII, HaShoah and the aftermath I can see that emotions and fear are much more important than facts in your view. My family was in the Ukraine. Including those that emigrated before WWII there were only 259 of us in the entire world at last count.

is where this belongs. As George Wallace said about the two parties, 'Not a dimes worth of difference between them.' That was about the only thing I liked about his platform.

Liberal fantasy

Liberals have a tendency to blame everyone but themselves for every problem under the sun. Obamacare has proven to be a disaster. Failure on a grand scale. The tea party has been marginalized by the established political parties and the liberal progressive democrats have driven our nation to the brink of both economic and military ruin. America has never been so hated or had so many enemies in it's history as it does today. Every time I read the news I'm faced with yet another example of how our freedom is being lost due to liberal progressive democrats and their insane political agenda.

One thing that shows just how out of touch with reality this story, and liberal progressive democrat views in general, is was it's view of firearm ownership. There are more firearms owned than ever before yet according to official statistics the crime rates are reaching record lows. The liberal media is doing it's part to push the liberal progressive propaganda that crime is rampant, but many of the stories they use to spread their propaganda later turn out to be a distortion of the facts, if not outright lies. The fact that almost every instance of mass killings happen in so called gun free zones by supposedly anti-gun liberals is something that does not fit the propaganda so it's just ignored or outright lied about for instance. FBI crime statistics are easily researched but liberal progressive democrats just can't be bothered to do anything like actual research, no they just have to drink the party line propaganda koolaide.

I liked the stories by this author so far, except for this one. Sad that someone would let their political views lead them to attack another political viewpoint without actually researching just what that viewpoint is.
