The is the revenge in that the bride should have paid for the wedding, and she is dumped at the reception.

The main character is so blinded by love he is ignorant of his girlfriend's true nature until the end. If it were me I would have droped her like a ton of bricks at the picnic. He tried to when she told him he was going to be a cuckold just before the marriage ceremony. I would have said what wedding. I'll be damned if it ever happens. Do you realize how much money is sunk in a wedding. I would not go thru that expense if I know what she would do.
