Shows promise...

The writing is good and it looks like you pay attention to details. I'd prefer a little more dialogue and action to tell me about the two women rather than the narrator doing the telling. I don't feel like I've completely connected with the characters yet...but I'm sure there's a bit more to come. Good start.
