You have hit on some subjects that are familiar to an old vet. I can understand where his thoughts are.

Love the story so far but..
Not sure if you didn't go to far with the alcohol and drugs and describing his injuries. Losing his stomach would have way more life altering changes then you described here and really added nothing to the story that I can see. Great story so far keep it up.
