try reading the story
While a bit extreme in terms of sexual repression (story reminded me of "inherit the wind") this is not exactly unknown given the rise of fundamentalists and the other religious troglodytes like the Catholic church with their sex is for procreation,it is nasty,etc and are anti sex ed. That said they could have used the services of sex surrogates,lot less dangerous since they are therapists and wouldn't pose a threat.

Premise of the story is faulty
Seeing the sequel I went back and read the first part.
I can accept the repressed environment they grew up in. I can accept Ruth getting a sexual wake up in the workplace. I can somewhat understand Ruth's desire for a better sex life, but she seems a little over eager for someone with no real experience.
However, Ruth says "over the last year I've grown to completely respect you" and then says "I'll be back Sunday night -- you'll have to make up some excuse why I'm not at church Sunday morning -- and I'll expect your answer then. If it's 'yes' we'll plan how it's going to work. If you say 'no' we'll work out a separation.". Sorry, NO woman that respected her husband would shove such an ultimatum down his throat. He was not included in the analysis of the problem or creation of the "solution". Then he MUST accept her "solution" or she will leave him. She KNOWS the solution will fly in the face of his upbringing and cause him emotional pain and she doesn't care. There is NO respect about the whole process. Another aspect of their upbringing is that guys brought up like that are IN CHARGE. He would never capitulate like he did BECAUSE of his upbringing. She would be lucky not to get a whipping to get her back on track.
But getting by all that, WE have a sexual problem so the solution is to go fuck OTHER people? Wow! And a person undergoing training to help people with sexual problems thinks this is a GOOD idea? That it's fine being FORCED on the husband? How about the two of them go off for a weekend with a sexual therapist that shows the TWO of THEM how to have good sex together. I get that you can write the story as you want and I'm not really a prude. But the story takes a somewhat silly and inconsistent view of the "repressed upbringing" situation and Ruth shoving the solution down Luke's throat makes it just another bitch wife and wimp husband story.

Well written story but a flawed premise
I mostly agree with what JasonH said. I am ok with the story up until the solution they implemented. It would have been much simpler to buy sex education videos - there are a bunch of them available - and practice the sex on the videos together. Would have strengthened their relationship and been more of an exploratory thing together. In terns of the story, it would have been just as if not more erotic. I think with the kind of upbringing this couple had, it was not credible that they would take their marriage vows so lightly as to have a cheating weekend with other people involved. Sorry IMH - I usually like your stories, but this dawg don' hunt.
