Time travel...

Since he can time travel during one of his sessions, he can always go back to when Lata is healthy and have her look for a possible cure, if he ever is in need of her help.

Or maybe they lied and killed her? He could go back warn her and she could maybe set up a clone? It is the future right... lol! Either way you have a great story going on here.
