Thumb In The Eye Of The Legal System

This was a great little story, for two reasons. One, it was entertaining. It was well written, and funny as hell. Two, it brings up some very valid points about the state of our system of justice as it pertains to divorced couples.

I am not a caveman. I fully realize that when a marriage dissolves there must be steps taken to ensure that if there are children, they are taken care of. What I do have a problem with is a husband being forced to financially support his former wife's sex life.

It would seem that the womens' liberation movement has been succesful in having the cake and eating it as well. We are told time and again, ad nauseum, that women are the equal of their male counterpart. Yet in the divorce court, suddenly they become these helpless little creatures that must be given every advantage. I find it to be quite ridiculous.

This story perfectly illustrates why I would not marry again at gunpoint without an ironclad pre-nuptial agreement. Of course that would require something happening to She Who Must Be Obeyed, God forbid!

Alas only if it were so. Judges all belong to the same "club" and watch out for each other-the ultimate "professional courtsey". In real life his wife would have got screwed (unless she was screwing another judge!)

Huecuck is the reason I've switched over from red Magic Marker to red Dry Erase on the screen when reading stories. Too hard to clean MM off the screen, especially with CH stories. He steadfastly refuses to use an editor. Wonderful stories, for the most part (5* on this one)! ROFLMAO but bittersweet! Great Bang-per-Word!

Same old, same old - the wife is no good, the guy is blameless.

All those years practicing law and maybe one out of fifty male divorce clients was truly getting screwed - most of the rest said/thought they were, but their evidence was non-existent. You whiners ought to write the usual story - hubby gets tired of having a wife and four kids, and takes a hike with some sweet young thing (dumb as a box of rocks) who believes his lies and still has energy for sex. Those guys always claimed they were getting a raw deal, too

For not the last time it's "eat your cake yet still have it" not the other way around...

...just because 90% of people get it wrong don't perpetuate it.The most significantly true part of this story is how capricious and erratic the legal system is, the difference from one judge to another is the difference between guilt and innocence far too often. This I know as well as anyone.

As women have continued to demand "equality" it seems that it does not apply in family court. In family court they have their cake, and their husbands too. In a world where women want their "rights", they should also have equal responsibility. A divorce should be a matter of signing a standard form and filing it with the county clerks office. That form should include a split of the assets based on what each spouse brought into the marriage both before and during the marriage with the exception of the years that one spouse stopped working to take care of the kids or suffered from some kind of illness that prevented them from working. Custody of children would be standard too. It would always be joint custody with no alimony and no child support. Both parents would be required to share this responsibility. If a parent refused to live up to their parental obligations and the State was forced to step in a provide financial assistance to the children, the State would go after the dead beat parent, not the ex spouse. We do not need the State in our personal affairs, political hacks or even "religious" leaders have no place telling anyone how to run their lives.
