It was a good start. A bit fast, but impactful. Just a few suggestions though. You tened to mix your metaphores. Not that I mind reading the Queens English, but you might want to warn a person. LIke set the scene or contry of origin. I didn't know if you were British, Auz or a Lander. You seemed to slip from English to American slang, Made it a bit confusing. Take your time and let the story breathe. It's not a race to the finish. What one of my mentors told me, was to read your story out loud to find the broken sentances and poor grammer. You might want to try that. Especally with the dialouge. If it doesn't make sense to you, it won't to your readers. Let the story build up to a natural climax, no need to rush. You don't have to make a tomb of 300K words, but take at least enough time to really get into the story.

Hopefully this is helpful to you, If not, toss it out into the bin and do what makes you happy. Good luck and keep writing.

There is nothing wrong with the inconsistency of the slang. I could tell from the choice of words that this was written by someone from the UK, mainly because in the US we don't say "right" after completing something (like a meal) nor do we refer to a set of items as "the lot".
