Interesting. I am the father of two young boys and I didn't have the heart to cut off any pieces of them. Mom left the question of circumcision to me and, while I am cut, I tried to research the subject and it seems like the choice is mostly an aesthetic one. I am a bit curious about the age I should teach them about properly cleaning their peeners. I've read online that you shouldn't peel back the foreskin when they are too young as it can cause damage. Any thoughts?

You should pull it back from the first day to clean it. Without doing this there are many health problems. The child needs to understand it is a necessary part of the bathing ritual, many parents teach the child to do it first so it is not forgotten.

I'm not a medical professional, so I'm not sure the exact age when to start teaching to peel back. But I'd say pretty young. After all, if you leave it too late, peeling back is going to hurt because there's going to be a lot more tightness in that area. I was told by my parents that I was "partially circumcised" at birth. My foreskin has always retracted very easily, and the nerves in the foreskin seem to be (mostly) intact. The foreskin always retracts during sex and then returns to just fully conceal the head when I am flaccid. Smegma (a collection of sloughed off skin cells and secretions) could be a problem, but it is easily cleaned. I suspect that the head is at least somewhat more sensitive than that of the fully circumcised. Sort of a "happy medium" condition that I really like.

In terms of retracting the foreskin, it should never be done by force and no one should retract an infant's or child's foreskin (doctor or parent). The child should be the one to retract his own foreskin when it becomes retractable, which can occur in either early childhood or well into their teenage years, though usually by about the age of 17 or 18 it will be full retractable. Before the foreskin is retractable it is perfectly appropriate to gently wash your son's penis with warm water as you would your daughter's vulva. Doctors in the US often mistake the natural state of the foreskin's inability to retract as actual conditions such as phimosis.

I am cut, sigh, and am therefore, no expert, but have you tried unscented glycerin soap. It may be gentle enough not to irritate the mucous membrane of the glans.

The glans and inner foreskin are membrane, not skin. Soap dehydrates them, causing them to absorb urine. That's a smell and taste that cannot be washed off.

I learned the hard way that soap dehydrates the glans.Now I rinse with water only, and rarely. Of course I rinse before oral sex. But daily rinsings can be just as harsh as soap.

My uncut penis head was VERY sensitive, in fact almost too sensitive to touch at all, until I got 'tough' with it, started washing it with soap and then with strong soap, and even masturbated with soap.
