Words fail me

That was so intense and so well written, I almost can't type because this story had such an intense emotional impact on me. I feel almost as if I WAS Susan and I was THERE, being interrogated by Jane.

A very good question. The two characters were actually inspired by two different people. I just happen to know several Susans in my life, each with different personalities and lifestyles. It never occurred to me that readers might confuse them, but of course they are not part of the same set of stories.

I'm sorry you didn't understand the premise. The "gift" was the pain. The game was deliberately rigged to allow the pain to be given, both people knew this, and agreed to it.
I myself do not revel in pain - this was written for a friend who DOES.
