I don't get it.

I'm confused or lost or ??? Maybe it is just a bad story

I think the idea is he gets the guy to sign the letter,then will go kill his wife and claim an insanity defense.Problem is no one will buy it,especially since the guy who signed it will tell of being coerced,since he doesn,t even know the wife,which should be easy to prove
