Demure --- "Full many a gem of purest ray serene .......

The Dark ,Unfathomed caves of Ocean bear !

Full many a Flower is born to blush Unseen ----

& waste it's Sweetness on the Desert air !"( sigh)

----- Thomas Grey , Elegy written in a Country churchyard

I love the idea. I like the execution right up until the final stanza, where you lose me. I get the gist of what you are expressing, but don't understand why grey longing is a worn out jest, nor the strangers breast bit. Confused.

Last time I went to the British Museum...

...my companion decided to hug all the Egyptian mummies - which made for some very grey looks from the custodians and we certainly lost the shine upon their strange breasts - smiles Sweet O.

I thought you were preparing me for something with "enhancing thus two beauties" for a later dramatic contrast, but I too am confused by the ending.

How sad!

For such love to go unrequited is heartbreaking! A beautiful evocation of one man's appreciation for and love of beauty.

Obvious colour

clash, despite what they say about grey

You have no truck with such- assume you is self reference of the protagonist, this has the voice of a fussy old bat, again I would prefer the flutter of more lively words.
