Somehow, 95% of this story got chopped off, never to be seen again. I don't know what happened, but I apologize anyway.
To avoid a repetition of this disaster, this story was broken into seven chapters and re-submitted as "Peril in the Pines." It has all of the original story, and has been well received.
I have also taken the introductory scene of "A Walk in the Woods" and written a whole new story around it: "Problems in the Ponderosa" in five chapters. It's a stand-alone story, with different characters, different plot, different setting. I hope you enjoy it.
