It puts things into perspective. Callan is about to bust up the joint. Caleb needed for Callan to kick thru his arrogance. I am not sure if I would ever really want to be psychic, that is a lot of stuff to carry around. I can't wait for more of this story. I can feel the depth of love Ana had for her people as well as Callan and Gard. It takes a very strong person to withstand death for a better future. That statement alone makes me think of the bible, but I am not going to get religious. The Queen represents a loving being that wants what is best. Sometimes we do have to lose everything to see that we mindfully have to do better. Great writing, as usual. Thanks for this!! This chapter makes me feel the sadness of love, the pain of love and the hope of love. It also shows how even in discord and separation there is love and a want to reach an understanding. It is the middle of the night and I am getting very cerebral. LOL Your words make us think about more than just the story. Really, you are a gifted writer, and although I said it before, I will say it again. Thanks for this!!!
I hope my Caleb and Callain find a peace and balance within their combined body as I actually like the king and think they are great together and love their conversation. Look forward to the next chapter!

never disappointed
I have fallen in love with all your characters. I appreciate how you develop them, give them all a chance to shine. My biggest disappointment is the fact that I discovered your story to soon as I seem to be forever eagerly awaiting for the next chapter to arrive... I am constantly impressed and devour your chapters as soon as you post them. I loved this one, so much insight given to both Caleb and his altar ego. So I am back to waiting, but take your time, I'll just re read the story from the beginning. Not sure how many times I have done that. Happy writing

It's almost as if every fork in the road of your story has a new fork in the road, How you come up w/all of the twists and turns and seamlessly weave them all together is beyond me. Great chapter and good to see Caleb, Annie and Gard again. One minor point...in this chapter Gard leaves with Rayne before Anakatrine conjures up the illusion Sarayne...but in "The Long Walk Home" Rayne describes seeing the illusion of her in her mothers arms when she is given to Gard. Just thought you may want to fix that if you ever re-write. Call me crazy, but little things like that always jump out at me...And it just shows how well I know your work due to multiple re-reading. :-)

I have to agree; this is the strongest chapter in TOF so far. Very powerful; I was wondering when Caleb and Annie were going to reappear. Very well done.
This chapter was absolutely stunning and very informative. Reading of Anakatrine and Callain's last moments was heartbreaking; they brought tears to my eyes. And the love between those two, as well as the love between Anakatrine and Gard is simply breathtaking. The depth of emotions you give to your characters, the details in which you write, it is so easy lose yourself in their thoughts and feelings. One can so easily imagine themselves right there with the characters: I feel this is an obvious sign, of a truly great author.
Honestly, it's so easy to lose myself in each chapter. I can't wait for the next installment.
Joking aside, I'm not sure if this is your BEST chapter yet. For me to be a judge of that would require that I read all the chapters you've ever written in rapid succession.
And there's no way I'm doing that, because I wouldn't be able to remember Jack Shit. (Having ADHD really sucks for memory sometimes.)
I do, however, know that the chapter was VERY good. (And I really wish these comments had italics)

Again with your cliff hangers!! Amazing, I do think this is one of your best chapters ever but not sure if it takes top I would say maybe a tie for it. I'm so happy that things are starting to look up for one of my favorite couples. :D
I don't think I have cried so much in one chapter of any author on here..btw to me the more i cry and feel for the characters the more i like the story because I can relate and it makes it more realistic to me.....the agony of watching your people and your soulmate die and knowing there is nothing you can do to stop it...omg....poor thing.
