However, it desperately needs a sequel.
They need to know each others' perspective. Ideally, they'd make up and she'd forgive him, but that is the least easy to make believable. Even if they have a fight and he breaks down emotionally in the realization, it's not fair to either of them to leave them with their own point of view. Even if the sequel ends up having no sex at all. Or perhaps /especially/ if it has none.
I realize that others on this site may disagree with me, but you owe it to your characters to resolve the problem between them.

There needs to be some resolution. Maybe there can be a little bit of talking while they're not having sex? Then they might be able to figure out just what the hell they are doing.
