While reading, for some reason I was thinking of the old Perry Mason TV series. This had the same flavor.

I liked it, it was well thought out, and neither overly showy, or grossly lacking in legalese. I predict that this will be one of your better received stories. If anything, maybe some more background on the wife, and perhaps some insight on how she was lured into a cheating and deceptive lifestyle, might have colored her character better, and made her more of an interesting subject. However, through the blurred lens of courtroom drama, you were still successful in bringing to life a pretty vivid vignette, of this marriage gone wrong. Thanks!

What the fuck?

A divorce is a civil proceeding, not criminal. While you can be caught out for perjury, there is no jury, and there is no trial. Way too much fantasy wish fulfillment that you would have done better without, like surprise evidence that nobody, including your readers knew about beforehand.

You know, it's fine that people want to include the wronged spouse cleaning up in divorce court as part of their BTB, but if you're going to do that, then you either need to do the research or your story loses too much credibility in wholly fake details that would never happen in real life. A fantasy court room is boring as shit, there's no point in creating one, and if you're doing to do a real one, you should do it right. If you want to have the reader give you the benefit of suspension of disbelief, then keep the "facts" that we have to disbelieve at a minimum. Magic evidence being one of them.

I don't normally comment on other people's comments but when someone is as fucking stupid as the ANON who posted "What the fuck" I had to make an exception.

I am a family law attorney in the US, and member of the bar in three states. I have conducted many divorce proceeding trials. I know that you are too stupid to have even read this story but it was not before a jury even though in a case like this, where a prenup is involved (which after all is a contract almost like any other) a party can normally ask for a jury. You know nothing, not even the proper language. When someone swears under oath in a civil case and they lie a District Attorney CAN prosecute them for perjury in a CRIMINAL proceeding. [There is no such thing as "caught out," your ignorant language].

Also, just like the attorney in this case I have on numerous occasions held back significant evidence for the sole purpose of impeachment as long as it was not called for by a specific discovery request.

In fact the ONLY thing that is a fantasy in this story is the fact that the judge fucked the respondent. Other than that all legal aspects are completely accurate. Who the fuck are you to pretend that you know something that you know absolutely nothing about?

Okay, just for giggles, I think I'll jump in here

Although it is true that lying under oath in civil court does constitute perjury, I know not of a single case where a person has been charged and prosecuted. But...here's my question, what happened to the criminal trial? Beating up your spouse, whether she is cheating or not, is still against the law. Did she file a police report; if not her testimony would carry very little weight in civil court; if she did then she is guilty, not only of perjury, but also filing a false police report.

I'm sure all the BTB credo will love it. But then again, most of them are knuckle dragging, mouth breathers.

Hell, when I asked Yogi Bear and the tooth fairy what they thought of this story, they just laughed and said: "Hey Boo-Boo, this story is so unreal, imma gonna kick the authors ass." Good Tale

Of course, in real life such great evidence doesn't just fall into the litigant's lap. But, hey, makes a good tale. Five stars. I've gotten almost as much fun reading these comments. I'm not an attorney, but have substantial experience in family court. The attorney's comments are pretty good; Anon's not so much. Judges in this court are usually more interactive in the questioning than in others, not that there afren't objections and rulings. But this isn't exactly how it usually goes. Still, good tale.

Story was well told. Very well written. The legal stuff seems real enough. Although, a smart judge would never put himself in such an obvious conflict of interest and would recuse himself. I am not certain what the law is but malpractice and disbarment come to mind. But Iam not complaining because that plot twist made the story exceptional. Well done. 5x5

Little imagination here

How many compound sentences can you put in one story? In your haste to explain EVERYTHING you stripped out all the suspense. This made the story completely unimaginative and bland.

Very good read! Small quibble - in an otherwise sexless story, maybe a couple more descriptive sentences and some 'pillow-talk' in the one potentially erotic part of the tale!

reveals a truth rarely revealed. those charged with enforcing the laws are often
the worst LAW BREAKERS.

The strength of this for me

was the legal maneuverings. I am not a lawyer, though I know a bit from college and from criminal procedural shows. In fact, a bit more description of what the legal terms were would have been welcome (there was one or two terms that even I didn't understand...and when the 'trick' of the story is based upon that, it takes a bit more time to explain the jargon.)

The guy was a emotionless, the wife undescribed, but again...that wasn't the trick of the story, so it was superfluous to a point.

I enjoyed the read. It was a simple direct story. This is not a critique but a compliment.

I have a law degree and have taught, but I never really practiced much and never in court. It all seemed real to me. His attorney knew his business, but I would have sought the judge's recusal based on his friendship with Daddy. Did the attorney know the judge had also been fucking the slut/dear wife?

The way he maneuvered the cheating slut and her asshole father with the pre-nup was superb! The way he coldcocked Assholio and slashed the tires on his ride was outfuckinstanding! Perfectly done!

Take all the liars and cheats to task. I particularly liked the part where he tricked the father-in-law into firing him to get the non-compete clause dumped. Couldn't have done a better job if you had slapped him silly!
