My comment got eaten. Or you deleted it...

but since you are a CW I doubt that.

I'm confused, Harry. I hope what you are doing here is including cultural stereotypes like the female librarian and the wizened old man up in the sky and card checkout systems as examples of current/past Zeitgeist, but I'm not sure. I suspect most card checking systems are going the way of Microfiche. Aside from that, awakening with "pen in hand" under the equally anachronistic oleo reference makes me even more dubious about ever eating margarine. Can you explain what effect/message you were trying to convey? It feels a bit like Harry Potter joins the Dada art movement right now.

I looked at it this AM and saw more I should have done, will do, am doing. Delete your comment? No, you can have me for a paltry few words of interest. I considered making the old man smithpeter, but basically I was saying write or die, as for zeitgeist it has a vague enough meaning, also ambiguous enough to title this poem on at least two levels, or rungs if you will. Thanks for the comment. Write poets though your tongues be numb.

I was doing ok until I got to 'A poof and appears a wizened old man' which caused me to rather lose the plot, probably because in very unPC English slang 'poof'' has another very unfortunate meaning

I believe that to become a writer one must first be a reader; attempt saturation in that endeavor
