Sheer nonsense

The Ph.D. starts his thesis by demonstrating that he knows little of the animal world, and then goes on to use his foolish premise to 'prove' that humans are greedy and wasteful. Of course animals aren't 'greedy' or 'loving' or any of the other characteristic that humans have and that we wrongly attribute to animals (it's called anthropromorphism -- I call it the "Bambi" syndrome -- too much time watching Walt Disney movies, and not enough time on the farm or in the wild).

Animals are frequently 'wasteful', killing for the joy of it (No? Just watch a cat with a mouse, or a weasel or wolverine who gets into a chicken coop. Seals who eat only the belly of a fish and leave the rest...).

Whether there is merit or not to Ph.D.'s argument, it is certainly not bolstered by his analogies to animals.
