How is it in these stories they act like the person changed so much since they last saw them . He saw her last year, how much different does the average person change in a year . The difference for 17 to 18, or 16 to 17 is not that great.

For your next installment, I'd suggest getting an editor. Small spelling and grammatical errors made it harder to read than if there weren't any. Barring that, an overall good story. Can't wait for more!
