I wonder if salty thoughts has the same meaning in English as it has in my language; it would seem so. I can see how one would have salty thoughts, in this situation. I agree about the last stanza, and I particularly like 6 and 7 (scattering a smattering of small debris). I'm not much of a rhyme guy, as you know, but I make up for it by really liking alliterations.

I know this is probably long past, but I hope you've made a full recovery (from your description, I'd guess this was a very traumatic event).
