But he raised a selfish, self-centred, ungrateful and spoiled little bitch! Maybe if he had taught her some morals along the way, when he wasn't catering to her every whim, she might not have turned out the way she did. Nobody ever told her NO when she was growing up, so she always wanted more! And how did he solve this? By spoiling her, and giving her even more, in an effort to distract her from boredom, and thereby cheating on her husband! He didn't teach her that she was wrong, but merely resoted to blackmail and bribery. Loving your kids is great, but raising them to be good people is better!
She did a bad thing. Could have been worse. Like so many other men and women she took her life for granted.
Calgon, take me away!
As we should be telling our kids, you did a bad thing but, that doesn't mean you are a bad person. I'm sure the woman in this story, like all the men and women I referred to earlier, has a host of redeeming qualities. Does that mean she should be condemned forever, even though she ultimately didn't cheat and devoted the rest of her life to her family? No.
In WW2 certain German units and personnel inflicted unspeakably heinous atrocities and yet, not too long post WW2, they became our allies. And then they became key members of several military and economic organizations. After visiting crimes against humanity, several orders of magnitude worse than most civilized nations can comprehend we embrace them.
Should we not also embrace a woman who made a mistake? Teach her. Punish her. Tell her you love her and, appreciate that she did not go through with what she very well could have.

June in Argentina. ...
Could be a bit nasty for a destination wedding. Great story, nonetheless.
That was a GREAT story! One of the best on Lit. I have no idea what the score is but if it's not over 4.9, this place is populated with idiots. As near to perfect as I've read here. Thank you for your efforts T3.
Some of the commenters amaze me. They have such a high and mighty opinion of themselves and a ridiculous standard that they expect everyone to meet. They read a story in the "Loving Wives" section and act surprised when extramarital relations occur, or worse in the case of this story, they don't even happen.
She's such a cheating witch and should be burned at the stake because she CONSIDERED having an affair. Sheesh. I suppose they'll try to convince us that they never fantasize about anyone other than their perfect spouses. Riiiiiiggghhhtttt.
Life is hard. Sometimes it is taken for granted. Sometimes we get too busy and neglect the important things, and we begin thinking that maybe the grass IS greener elsewhere. It's good to see situations such as in this story where accountability corrects that thinking.
Instead of the BTB attitude, maybe you should back up, take a deep breath, and realize that this is a LOVE story that happened to have a few warts at one point. Thankfully they were removed and the relationship became stronger.
She cheated. She got involved in an emotional affair and was about to board a plane to consummate physically her affair, that's cheating. She only stopped because she got caught! Just like any other cheating spouse. Fantasizing and acting on a fantasy are two (2) completely different actions. If you will not do something in front of your spouse but do it covertly, That Is Cheating!
Yes, I'm old fashioned, I have a moral baseline and I'm definately an unforgiving hardcore BTB in real life as well in literature.
Morgan DeWolfe
He cut her way too much slack as a teenager, which only served to teach her that, she was the center of the universe, that no matter what she did, there would be no consequences for her. He taught her that there were no repercussions to her actions. A fourteen year old sucks off two older boys? "That's ok honey, daddy will break up their family and make them go away!"
Hang out with the wrong people? "That's ok honey, you make your own decisions, and do what you want, even though you're still just a kid!"
In trouble with the law? "That's ok honey, daddy will pay the fines, again and again, and then i'll tell you that I love you, because you're special!"
No wonder she thought she could get away with whatever she wanted. Cheating on her husband was just the next logical step! After all, to her mind, she could do no wrong, and if she was caught, hell, all would be forgiven anyway. It always was before!
I would have liked it better, if SHE had decided to not cheat, realizing that it was wrong, instead of being emotionally blackmailed by her father to stop. And again, daddy makes it all go away. Again, she never learns to face the consequences to her choices.
It all worked out for the best in the end, so no real or permanent harm done, but it could have oh so different, and oh so messy! His parenting, though full of love, lacked the necessary lessons she required to be a well adjusted adult.
I'm glad it ended happily for them all, especially Mike and Ashley. If it HAD all gone wrong, they would have been the ones that were hurt badly. Jessica would have just had daddy clean up her mess again, and even though he said he wouldn't, I don't think even HE believed that!
Also, his near obsessive stalking was uber creepy! Being there for your child is a good thing. Sneaking through the woods and peeking in her windows, listening in on her conversations, following her in the shadows? Thats obsession, and I don't mean the cologne! I'll bet that she made doubly sure that her curtains were closed, everytime she showered, after that!

ANOTHER great story!
Great story; Great presentation; You always seem to be able to take the story to an unusual ending that is realistic. I thank you for the great reading.

Great story, but really belongs in "Erotic Horror"...
It's magnificently understated in the story, but Daddy's actually a bit of a monster.

All that was missing
Was a description of how if she went through with it she would come home to an empty house, with husband and daughter gone. Sorry, but if her father figured it out the so did hubby. She had a massive failure to communicate.
Thank you for writing this story. I just reread this for the second time.
It is so amazing, I loved it. And will reread it many, many times over.
You have an amazing talent. THANK YOU.

Wonderful Story
This is a beautiful, well written, melancholy story that, unfortunately, made me revisit all my shortcomings as a husband and father. This was my fifth reading and I cannot tell you how many sleepless nights I have spent reliving the lost opportunities I had to emulate the dad in this story if I had of had better character and integrity and less narcissism. I am 76 now and all I have to remember is what could have been. Thank you.
I really enjoyed the story. But, daddy's girl was a little slut when she was 14.

Left me in tears
I know it's only fiction, it's only a story, but it's also so touching it made me think of what i did wrong raising my kids and handling my family.
The past is gone and can't be changed, and i have broken a lot of things that can't be fixed anymore, and then i read something fictional about a perfect dad, and it explains so much, shows so much how it could be, should be, everyone wants it to be...
Yet real life has more than a three page story could ever tell, but still this little story left me shaken in tears.
I'd say i love it, deep in me i do, it opened my mind, but it also showed me what i did wrong, and i hate it for that. Guess i know the truth deep inside and don't like some dude from far away telling me it.
Regards,
a man that read most of your excellent written stories in a few days straight through.
Love it, and would give easily ten stars.
My reaction to this story was that it is an oddly contrived plot and tale.

I had the terrible luck that the first story of yours that I read was The Valentine Card.
That was so awful, so vomit inspiring that I figured no way I would ever EVER read another of your stories.
Then I guess now like 7 months later, this story was listed in the "similar stories" box and I did not recognize your name and clicked on the link.
This is very well written and very believable and very good. A definite well earned 5 when that idiotic valentines story was a MINUS 11
I will read a couple more of your stories later.
I am just hoping that that valentines shite was a one off.

This is absolutely lovely!
Oh God Tx Tall tales.
Your stories are some of the best in this site. Each time I read one, I am on a roller coaster of emotions. Tears of joy, anxiety, anticipation, excitement, huge smiles, ... you name it.
Your story-telling skills are complemented/complimented by your observation skills and attention to details. Minute detail of the father daughter bond... combined with succinct and short narration where not much was needed... made this such a balanced read. Such a wholesome read.
Specially loved that first letter by the dad. I could picture myself writing something similar to my kids a few years from now... if I ever need to narrate to them, my journey with them. That letter was beautiful.
The emotions throughout the story, the heartbreak of the first letter, the realization of making the unforgivable mistake before it's too late, and the forgiveness and contrition by the daughter and her husband respectively. An emotionally charged tale from beginning to end. You have woven a story to be read over and over again.
Truly a special thing to be able to feel the raw emotions of characters in a tale such as this. I am a father as well, and this his very near and dear to my heart. 10 * if I could, thank you for sharing....

Read Once Remember Forever For me that is what this is. I've been going thru a bit of a rough patch. Your story pointed out (to me atleast) that if we communicate and believe in eachother almost anything can be worked out.
Too bad he only had one daughter
Raised with all that love; and still a selfish bitch. I grieve for her father, husband and daughter.
He may have been a loving father

Good but
Not nearly enough details about her infidelity and the conversations with her husband.
Don't like being in the dark and pouring syrup all over didn't help with the lack of knowledge.
Good tale though.
P.S.
I absolutely love the spanking as part of the punishment!
Huge fan of spanking bad girls! Thank you!
