Poem !!

This certainly has a hypnotic feel to it, butters. The 3rd stanza is as good as anything I've read of yours.

The first felt a bit clunky to me, ending with the question mark after ghost stories. I might have:


half-asleep by the fire
mesmer of fickering flame
what better time
or place?

ghost stories steep the brain
in melancholic narrative
