I agree with Oldbear63 that it feels natural, and I like the description of the scene. The only part I thought strange was this:

"My eyes stare at the beams of sunshine
and watch as the light chases out the darkness."

She watches light chase out the darkness? How so? Is it slowly entering the room? But, if the sun is rising, shouldn't the direct sunlight coming through the window be receding? Just some thoughts.
