Or very close to home for a lot of situations we are all in from time to time. There always should be hope.

No, hope.

This has ideas churning in my head. I sort of argued this the other way in Terminal Girl"s... But I think there's more on both sides to be said and an ambiguous middle ground. I think I'll go play in the middle.

Having hope takes constant effort and self-delusion. It's a lot of work for happiness that may or may not exist.
