Nice concrete(no pun intended) images, butters. I wanted it to end not frozen in space and wondered if the last 4 lines were necessary. The metaphorical barriers were so well developed and integrated about what love isn't, I think the reader would have thought much the same as what you described in the last 4 lines, no?

Explain the meaning of my poem often in the last lines, an attempt at a final summation so to speak, so I get the final lines, I am at odds with it as to wether I want it to stat or not. Really enjoyed this piece though, the invocation of the el emus and the barriers that they create is really good in my opinion.
