Of course, the true value of an artist is in their ability to put you into a situation and feel the emotions of the protagonist. You succeeded very well. I was moved. Unfortunately, the suicide would have been found out by the insurance investigators, but for the sake of this story, I am willing to suspend disbelief.

I understand the desire to save his family the pain of a debilitating disease. However, I find his ethics a bit disturbing. No qualms about deceiving insurance companies? I also can't see how this would be any better. I would feel like I had been robbed of time with my spouse. Also, after a year of mourning and perhaps a modicum of healing, the wound is ripped open again with the arrival of the package.
Kevin was a fool period. He really didn't love his wife and family, otherwise he would have continued treatment to try his best to beat the disease and at least let his wife share his last days knowing that there was love between them. As it was he acted in such a manner that even the newest rookie cop would recognize as suicide, even if it could not be proved, and sooner or later it would dawn on his wife also.
