I liked the story but found the ending completely unsatisfying and not believable. I don't believe a woman would abandon a true love for a church.
I know of no church that expects a year long missionary trip besides the Mormon church and they wouldn't expect her to give up her love. They may insist the children be brought up in the faith. Jehovah Witnesses? Maybe, but neither insist on plain dress. No church would permit one last sin, either. Finally, it's a sad ending. A romance should have a happy ending. It should end with them as a couple, maybe even married. She becomes a Baptist maybe. I see there's an opening for a sequel. If you do let's see some happily ever aftering.
I'm a writer myself (erotic horror) and I wouldn't do this. I'd rather kill her or both.

leave this crazy church out of it I feel quite sure god would not aprove of such a thing.Sounds like an occult to me.
