.. Let down a little by points of detail. What period are we supposed to be in? The reference to a "handsome" (sic) cab (presumably a Hansom cab) suggests Victorian or Edwardian, but later Alice has a zip on her skirt. Sir David would be a knight or baronet, so his wife would not be "Lady Alice" but "Lady [surname]". These minor quibbles aside, an excellent story, please do continue writing.

The comments made by anonymous are quite justified, although Hansom cabs were pressed into service during WWII because of petrol shortages for civilian traffic, so we might give that one a pass. Had you paid just a little more attention to detail you would have scored five for this tale - as it stands, 4.5 !
