Minor gripe; lightening comes before the thunder. the power of lightening tears the air apart violently and the sound of thunder is the air rushing/collapsing back together after each strike.
That being said the image of a lady getting herself off outside in the middle of a heavy storm is an incredible image and you described it beautifully.
