cliffhangers are good when:

cliffhangers are good when :
1. we know the resolution will happen soon (tomorrow or next day)
2. we trust the author
3. the story is so good is does not detract from the flow and
4. we sorta expected this

I'm still very impressed with this story, but the sudden engagement and Fran's sudden acceptance also strain credibility. Not sure why they'd need a marriage when the current arrangement seems to be working for everyone.
