there is a popular band Dying Fetus but i did'nt get any allusion to the

Festival of Fetus in Google : sorry for my ignorance but this is surely referring to a long-ago Empire or Civilization ??

Feels like

A commentary on abortion to me.
Though it seems to me that the narrator is both for and against.

@ Trix & Ash

Both fascinating responses I was not anticipating.

ureminds me

If a bad horror movie I saw as a kid, freaked the bejesus out of me then,
Children of the damned. Or something like that.

Liked the play on maze and corn good double meaning. Reads like a grade horror taken from a b grade script :p

Oldbear wins the Booby Prize, todski was so damn close.

Although, it was not my intent to write a something cryptic for everyone to figure out.

Instead, I wrote this ( hurriedly I might add ) for a challenge laid down by another poet in another poetry forum. It was supposed to be about

[airquote]
"He Who Walks Behind the Rows" is the name of the unseen presence - a demonic fertility-spirit that created a cult of corrupted youths and commanded them into killing their elders so as to start a twisted harvest in which the old would be replaced by the new. (wikia) [/airquote]

which I immediately recognized as the evil entity from Children Of The Corn written by Stephen King.

I also took some liberties with the story.

The final line is a not so subtle lame clue :

The Harve ========= st Evenin' King

See if this didn't reek so much of King, I would have sworn it was social commentary.
