The story is about an American woman living in Qatar. Incest is forbidden for women but not for men. If she's caught having incestuous sex with her son, she'd be ruined. She'd lose her job. Unable to pay her debts, she'd be unable to leave the country. With her playing a dangerous game while waiting for her son to make the first incestuous move, all that she has is anticipation.

Put yourself in her shoes for a minute. Other than embarrassment and shame as a woman caught having forbidden sex with her son, she has much to lose. A perk that she has, she'd be evicted from her villa, would lose her car and driver, and would be shamed and brutalized by Qatari men. Until her son lets his feelings known, she had nothing but sexual anticipation.
