I believe you missed one of the points about the story here. Conrad enjoyed the submission as much as she did as you can tell by the fact that he came as well. She does not believe that Conrad is stupid. She just believes that he will come back if she calls him. And he will.
If I may ask. What makes the story so stupid? Why is it awful? If you are going to criticizes, at least make it constructive criticism.
