'Maximise' and 'maximising' are perfectly correct in British English (I was born and educated in England) and Australian English (I currently live in Australia). (And I've just checked the dictionary to be sure!) Perhaps the problem isn't my spelling but that we are divided by a common language?!

The spelling needs serious work as many are wrong. Like "maximising" the any good dictionary lists as "maximizing" so find one and then use it.
Call an editor
Then try again
