I liked this subject matter.

It's a good read and I liked it and voted just that. I prefer rhyming in a poem, and consistency in meter, which I can't define other than it makes it easier to say and and memorize.

But still, you touched something in me. I grew up in a far land, my bloodlines are consistently WASP but I grew up amid a different culture, going home each afternoon from school to a family that tried to create a 'normal' home for me. We flew to our 'home country' every summer to a place that wasn't familiar. I couldn't relate to my cousins or anyone there. When I came of age I came 'home' again and have lived here ever since, feeling isolated and insulated from the normal in the US, yet it is the only place for me. Where I grew up is no longer what it was, those I knew scattered throughout the world and grown differently in their own countries. I have met some on fb and we all have the same feeling of not belonging. Someone said we are/were "Two Culture Kids" and are doomed to live in our home countries, loving them, yet still not really fitting in.

Your words addressed that to some degree. You came close to the feeling I live with, even if you were talking about something completely different.

Thanks.

Thank you. What an interesting repy.

I am happy to have touched home on such an intimate and vulnerable feeling. I enjoyed reading your story and I empathize with you, even thoughas you said, I was writing about something completely different. Art, poetry, prose - it's all the same thing from my perspective. It's about that existential struggle that defines who we are - even if that means being stuck bewteen two worlds. I prefer to think of myself as firmly rooted in both worlds, however, as opposed being a prisoner of the space in between, Souls like ours are either forever lost or always at home.
