A Poem for the Night

Like misty dark moonlight came down,
The sky was opened to the night.
The honeyed moon, and jewel-bright stars
Like queen’s eyes that know her king’s might;
Sparkling spurs of brave knights long dead,
And the million dust of their bones,
And the crystal dew of their bed;
The midnight air so wondrous fresh,
The White River so perfect clear,
And all andall,
And ever on.

blessed darkness.

The quietness of the nocturnal time of day ~ when the world slows down ~ to rest for yet another day on the morrow.
