Click hereWhistling a tune as it fell to the earth
In starting out simple and fair
The rain’s clever way to announce its intent
That a concert would soon fill the air
Since the rain was a bit of an ornery thing
Whose mood would often ignite
The wind was prepared for any event
Like the time when the rain caused a fight
This fighting was really a regular thing
When rain would be battling wind
But that time was even more brutal than most
Leaving wind all battered and skinned
Though this night it was different it just had that feel
The rain seemed so happy and free
So the wind joined the rain at the skies open stage
And started a grand jamboree
The rain was performing as only it could
And soon was down pouring quite strong
But wind wasn’t minding the ruckus rain caused
‘Cause it too was just blowing along
When suddenly wind just decided to leave
It was spent and quite ready to go
With a turn of it’s head it whispered to rain
That it had no more gumption to blow
The rain didn’t care; it was way too far gone
Just enjoying the sounds that it made
Hearing the dripping, the dropping, the splash
And soaking the earth as it played
After awhile the rain had a thought
Now alone and really quite free
The wind packed its horn and blew out of town
And the rain played its own melody.
this poem flows nicely, and I like the first person portrayal of the rain
It was playful and I liked the idea of the battle and the dialog between the wind and the rain. As far as the music composition image, I might have added more instruments.
It just carries the reader along in the most delightful way. You really should submit this for publication in a children's poetry anthology. Fix the typo (its, not it's) in the title and it's near perfect! Recommended in today's new poems reviews.
I have heard that melody.
Know what? I liked this poem, it is straight forward, honest, a cute story. I see a lot of promise in your style as well.
keep up the good work :)
