I much prefer stanza
like the body of a lover
spread below

a strophe is like a dim carcass;
a stanza length of fleshy poem
buttered brightly

stanza

While strophe has a more intellectal sound to me ~ I much prefer stanza. Just a personal preference.

Did a little checking and they're not wholly interchangeable. In fact the simplest word normally used has been stanza; but it usually seems to be associated with rhythmic and rhyming poems. Perhaps it's with the prose and free verse that strophe came into its own.

I just strophed myself good. I strophed my way through several comments before I got to your anti-strophing blasphemy.

There is a difference

between a stanza and a strophe (I think I read this recently), but I'm with you--"strophe" sounds too pc to me. I think I'll stop using it. :)
